Liaoning Provincial Museum Announces 2026 Summer Vacation Visitor Guide

To better meet the public’s visiting needs in this summer vacation, the Liaoning Provincial Museum will extend its opening hours from July 1 to August 31. The specific arrangements are as follows: From July 1 to August 31, the museum will remain open on Mondays. From Monday to Thursday, opening hours will be extended by one hour, from 9 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5:30 pm); from Friday to Sunday, opening hours will be lengthened by two hours, from 9 am to 7 pm (last entry at 6:30 pm).

The museum now operates on a no-reservation admission policy. Visitors may go directly to the museum, and after security checks, they enter by swiping their ID cards. Children and international tourists holding passports may enter via a dedicated passage. Visitors without taking along valid identity documents may enter the venue after scanning a QR code on-site to log into the system and register. Senior citizens aged 70 and above, individuals with disabilities, and active-duty military personnel are granted priority admission upon presentation of valid credentials.

During the summer vacation, visitors can enjoy a rich variety of permanent exhibitions and six special exhibitions. The six special exhibitions include Resonance of Metal, Virtue of Jade: An Exhibition on Chinese Inkstone Culture, Where the Guardian Mountain Meets the Sea: Exhibition of Archaeological Discoveries From the Liao Imperial Mausoleums at Yiwulyu Mountain, Emblems of Virtue: Exhibition of Plaques Artifacts, and Ancient GamesA Thousand Years of Wisdom in Traditional Chinese Sports. The permanent exhibitions include Jade Objects of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Choicest Ceramics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Epigraphs and Inscriptions in Ancient China, Bronze Mirrors in Ancient China, Currency in Ancient China, Ceramics of the Liao Dynasty, The Manchu Folkways, Seals in Ancient China, Buddhist Statues in Ancient China, and Ancient Liaoning. In addition, the museum will also open a large-space VR interactive cinema during the summer vacation, where films related to archaeology and museology will be screened.
